Father David Crippen
Our Interim Rector

The Rev. Dr. David Crippen has agreed to be our rector during the interim period as we search for a new rector.  We welcome Father David and his wife, Karen, to Christ Episcopal Church and look forward to his ministry here and getting to know him better.

Father David has served several congregations in the dioceses of Tennessee, East Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama as well as starting up and administering a home for physically challenged adults in Chattanooga prior to coming to Christ Episcopal Church as Interim Rector.  Father David brings a rich background of experience, much of which came from his years as a lay person prior to his ordination to the priesthood.  He began his career as a school teacher after which he and his family, including three daughters, lived in Kenya over a period of ten years where he and his wife, Karen, served as lay missionaries.  Back in the States he taught college and worked as Recreation Director and Education Supervisor in a Florida state prison.  The family then returned overseas where Father David administered a feeding program for Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese refugees in Thailand for two years.  From Thailand the family went to Somalia for another year where Father David was the administrator of a medical program for two refugee camps.  Father David received his Master of Divinity degree form the School of Theology at Sewanee and a Ph.D. from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.
