Tornado

Damage devastating, but parish and community will rise...     "the Good Shepherd lives, in each of us who are humble enough to be called his sheep. And his voice of love speaks through each of us who love each other in the name of Jesus Christ. And from that love, our parish will rise. We still have a beautiful and functional space (the parish hall), for worship and service to each other and the suffering community around us. And from the love that has brought Christ Episcopal Church thus far, our Good Shepherd will rise again through each one of us.”

...better known as the “little gray church on East Main Street”.   Christ Episcopal Church, in Albertville, Alabama, is a parish church in the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. We exist to be an outward and visible sign of Jesus Christ, to each other, and to the people of the Sand Mountain region.

OK, that's the theology. What that means is that we believe that Jesus Christ is alive in each member of this parish family. Every Sunday, we relive the Last Supper, and read God's love story with the human race (i.e. Holy Scripture). Some might call our worship “traditional.”  We call it timeless.

And if Christ lives in us, then we see Christ in each other, and we are learning to love each other as Christ loves us. And as Jesus served, so we serve each other, and the people around us.

We don't have a long "confession" or dogmatic statement of belief that must be signed onto before someone becomes a member.  We pray what we believe, and we believe what we pray.  And we offer to all people an accepting space to work out their salvation. Come and see.

There are also many opportunities to participate in ministry.  The programs and ministries of this parish help all of us to continue our spiritual journeys and to deepen our understanding of what it means to be a Christian in today's world.

Mission Statement:
“Christ Church exists to respond to God by becoming an outward and visible sign of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit through worship, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry thus fulfilling the Great Commission.”

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20
